2018-2019 Scholarship Information

Scholarships available outside of the community

These scholarships are both State of Wisconsin and nationally available scholarships. They all have different types of applications, requirements, and deadlines. Please pay close attention to all three things. More will be added as they become available.

2018-2019 Current Scholarships Available


  1. Horatio Alger Scholarship

You must be a graduating senior with a minimum 2.0 GPA, committed to pursuing a 4 year Bachelor’s degree, though you may start out at a 2 year community college and transfer on to a 4 year college. You must be able to demonstrate financial need by completing the Federal Financial Aid Form (FAFSA) and be involved in extra-curricular and community activities. You must display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity.

Applications must be completed online at scholars.horatioalger.org.

There are areas that teachers and Mrs. Veirauch must complete, so don’t wait until the last minute to complete the application.

Deadline is October 25th, 2018


2. Xello & Method Test Prep High School Scholarship

You must have lived in Wisconsin for 12 months and have been enrolled in a Wisconsin High School for the past 12 months. You must be a graduating senior and will be enrolling and attending a post-secondary institution during the 2019-2020 school year. Go to www.wscaweb.org to apply. Once you’re at the site, go to Awards & Scholarships bar and click on Scholarships. Scroll down to where it says Xello & Method Test Prep High School Scholarship 2018-2019. Click on the bar and complete the application.

Deadline is November 1st, 2018


3. Wisconsin Professional Police Association Scholarship

Is available to any graduating Wisconsin high school senior enrolling in a college or technical school in the course of study leading to a 2 or 4 year degree in police science, criminal justice, or a law enforcement-related field--this does not include law school.

4. Wendy’s High School Heisman Award

Available to graduating seniors who plan to pursue a degree at a Tech/Trade School or a 2 or 4 year College/University. You must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA and participate in athletics.

5. Michigan Tech. University National Scholars Program Scholarship

Available to graduating seniors who are planning to attend MTU. To qualify, you must apply to MTU BEFORE October 15th, 2018. This scholarship is based on your cumulative GPA and ACT score.

6. Herb Kohls Student Excellence Scholarship

This scholarship is available to graduating seniors who plan to pursue a degree at a Trade/Tech College or a 4 year College/University. The applicant will be evaluated on their leadership, citizenship, school and community involvement and academic achievement.

7. Michigan Tech. University Leading Scholars Award

Available to graduating seniors who are planning to attend MTU. To qualify, you must apply to MTU BEFORE October 15th, 2018. You must also apply for the Leading Scholars Award before October 15th, 2018. There are several steps to apply for this award, including an essay.

8. Elks National Foundation Scholarship

The Elks Foundation is awarding 20 top scholarships ranging from $20,000.00 to $50,000.00. They will award another 480 scholarships for $4000.00.

Applicants are selected based on academic merit, leadership, and financial need (you must complete the FAFSA form).

9. Coca-Cola Scholars Scholarship

Available to graduating seniors who plan to pursue a degree at a Tech/Trade school or a 2 or 4 year college/university.

10. ACT Student Champion Scholarship

This scholarship is for graduating seniors who have a 3.0 GPA and a 22 or better on their ACT composite score. You will have to write a short essay on any challenges you’ve had to overcome and describe what your college and career goals are and how you plan to achieve them.
